This content aims to link the MFL curriculum to Careers, in line with Careers Education, Information, Advice and Guidance (CEIAG). The resource includes opportunities for reflection and discussion around transferable skills developed through language learning—specifically, Critical Thinking. It also provides examples of jobs that require both this skill and knowledge of languages. Videos have been removed for copyright reasons; however, teachers are encouraged to include relevant videos or practical activities to further support students’ reflection and understanding of the valuable skills gained through their language learning journey. The resource is originally designed for KS3 but can be used a a starting point for KS4 discussions. Any feedback is welcome.

This resource aims to link the MFL (Modern Foreign Languages) curriculum to Careers, in line with the Careers Education, Information, Advice and Guidance (CEIAG) framework. It includes : opportunities for reflection and discussion around transferable skills developed through language learning—specifically, organisational skills. A quiz is provided to help students assess their organisational skills and explore ways to develop them further. The resource also include example career paths that require both strong organisational skills and knowledge of languages helping students reflect on the skills each job demands and how language can be a powerful asset. Videos have been removed for copyright reasons; however, teachers are encouraged to incorporate relevant videos to further support students’ reflection and understanding of the valuable skills gained through their language learning journey.
